Westmorland Polled Hereford stud was established in 1971 as a project for my father. Breeders were purchased from several “leading” herds but it was not until 1973 with the purchase of some cows and calves and some heifers from the “Dananbilla” stud of the late Jack Chew at Young, that a solid foundation was achieved. These cattle were principally “The Braes” and “Deepfields” blood and satisfied our requirements as breeders. They were quiet, good volume, easy doing, soundly structured cattle of great quality that reared their calves well.
